    • Carbon is recycled in nature

    • 1. Plants turn Carbon Dioxide into sugars
      • This is converted into carbohydrates, protein and fats
    • 2. Eating and digestion passes the carbon through the food web/chain
    • 3. Plant and animal respiration releases carbon dioxide back into the air
    • 4. Plants and animals die and decay
      • They are broken down by bacteria and fungi in the soil
        • This releases carbon dioxide into the air through respiration
    • 5. Dead plants and animals can form fossil fuels
      • These can be burned and carbon dioxide is released into the air
