- In-vitro fertilisation (IVF): Egg from woman and sperm from man are fertilised outside the womb and then implanted into the woman
- Artificial insemination by husband (AIH): the husband's sperm is mechanically inserted into the womb
- Artificial insemination by donor (AID): sperm from an anonymous donor is insert into the woman through mechanical means
- Egg donation: an egg id donated from another woman and fertilised using the husband's sperm through IVF
- Embryo donation: when an egg and sperm are donated and fertilised using IVF
- Surrogacy: either when the egg and sperm of male and female partners are fertilised by IVF and then placed into another woman's womb or when another woman is artificially inseminated by another man's sperm. In both cases the woman gives the baby to the couple after birth
