- Diabetic
- There are 2 main types of diabetes.Type1 and type 2
- Type 1 is where the immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin
- Type 2 is were the body doesn't produce enough insulin or the body's cells don't react to it.
- If you are diabetic, there are certain thing you ne to do
- Eat healthily
- Exercise regularly
- Carry out regular blood tests
- Vegetarian/ Vegan
- A vegetarian is a person who refrains from eating meat or fish
- This could be because for moral, health or religious reasons
- The live on a diet of grains. pulses, legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits and dairy etc.
- A typical protein supplement for them is Quorn
- A vegan is a person who doesn't eat or use any animal products
- They get their protein from nuts, seeds and cereals.
- A vegetarian is a person who refrains from eating meat or fish
- Nut Allergy
- A severe reaction to nuts is called anaphylaxis and can be life threatening.
- The immune system overreacts to proteins in the nuts.
- This causes an allergic reaction where chemicals like histamine are released in the body.
- Lactose Intolerant
- This is a common digestive problem where the body is unable to digest lactose
- Lactose is a type of sugar found mainly in milk and dairy poducts
- People who are lactose intolerant may require calcium and vitamin D supplements to keep their bones strong and healthy
- It is suggested that people limit their intake of lactose in order to help treat it.
- Coeliac Disease
- This is caused by an adverse reaction to gluten
- Gluten is a dairy protein found in wheat barley and rye
- The immune system mistakes substances found in gluten as a threat and attacks them
- There is no cure but switching to a gluten free diet is best to help control the symptoms
- This is caused by an adverse reaction to gluten
