    • Is the theory that the legislature are typical of the community they serve.
    • Gender- in 1987 only 6% women, in the 2005 increased to 19%
    • Age- in 2005 the youngest MP was 25, the average age of MP's in 50.6
    • Ethnicity- in 2005 there was only 5 black MP's
    • Is representation important?
      • Yes
        • Have a better understanding on issues concerning some communities
        • Some ethnic minorities may have more faith in the legislature.
      • No
        • Some constituents will always be represented by those who are unlike them.
        • A good MP will try their best to represent their constituent, irrespective of their gender, age or ethnicity.
