- Is the theory that the legislature are typical of the community they serve.
- Gender- in 1987 only 6% women, in the 2005 increased to 19%
- Age- in 2005 the youngest MP was 25, the average age of MP's in 50.6
- Ethnicity- in 2005 there was only 5 black MP's
- Is representation important?

- Have a better understanding on issues concerning some communities
- Some ethnic minorities may have more faith in the legislature.

- Some constituents will always be represented by those who are unlike them.
