      • Religious teachings
        • Christianity- Christians usually disagree with euthanasia because of their belief in the sanctity of life, preferring to trust in God's mercy. Some however cannot believe that a loving god would want his people to suffer.
          • They may argue  that God given freewill and intelligence give a person the right to choose when to end their life when the quality has been greatly reduced.
        • Islam- Only Allah can take life, so euthanasia is therefore against his plan. However, passive euthanasia may be regarded as an act of compassion and not true euthanasia as it allows nature to take its course
        • Judaism-Life is God given and therefore must be treasured.         Because God gives life only he can take it away
