- Role of the UN was strengthened by the war. Gained respect by taking quick and decisive action.
- Fulfilled one of its aim- to use combined force to stop aggression. This was something that the league of nations (UN's predecessor) had failed to do in the build-up to WWII.
- USSR subsequently returned to various UN organisations.

- Some argued that the war was controlled by the USA rather then the UN, which was just a 'puppet' of the USA. They provided most of the troops and weapons. The commander of the UN forces was American and took orders from the US president.
