- MRI Scans
- magnetic resonance imaging
- resonance = vibrate
- imaging = protons
- 1- has a strong magnetic field that causes all protons in half the body to line up with the magnetic field
- so we can do number 2
- 2- radio wave used to give a weak magnetic field leading the protons to start spinning/ vibrating (synchronously)
- so we can do number 2
- 3- when you turn of the radio wave, the protons go back to normal
- 4- to go back to normal, spinning randomly, then they must release some energy (radio waves)
- 5- energy given off is specific to the tissues the protons are in
- energy is used to make an image
- magnetic resonance imaging
