    • magnetic resonance imaging
      • resonance = vibrate
      • imaging = protons
    • 1- has a strong magnetic field that causes all protons in half the body to line up with the magnetic field
      • so we can do number 2
    • 2- radio wave used to give a weak magnetic field leading the protons to start spinning/ vibrating (synchronously)
      • so we can do number 2
    • 3- when you turn of the radio wave, the protons go back to normal
    • 4- to go back to normal, spinning randomly, then they must release some energy (radio waves)
    • 5- energy given off is specific to the tissues the protons are in
      • energy is used to make an image
