  • Matters of Life and Death
    • Christian Belief in the Afterlife
      • Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever.
      • Touch me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don’t have bodies, as you see that I do.
      • They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies.
      • And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
      • I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.
      • I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.
      • But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne.
      • Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.
    • Non-Religious Belief in the Afterlife
      • Men and women among you who act as mediums or who consult the spirits of the dead must be put to death by stoning. They are guilty of a capital offense.
    • Christian Attitudes to Abortion and the Sanctity of Life
      • You must not murder.
      • Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?
      • You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
      • So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
      • I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.
      • So you must honor God with your body.
    • Christian Attitudes to Euthanasia
      • You must not murder.
      • I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.
      • A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’
      • If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
    • World Poverty
      • God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.
      • “Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
      • God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.
      • And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.
      • For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
        • And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.
      • God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
      • “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked. The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”
