    • chapter one
      • this childish innocents is soon lost as the novel progresses. however, the rst o the boys (expect the choir) choose Raplh simply because they thought he looked like a leader again this childish innocence gives us the underlning feel of just ho young these boys are.
      • we are introduced to two boys at the beginning who we learn to be Piggy and Ralph.
      • our first impression of Piggy is that he is usually the one to be bullied at school when he speaks of his his nickname Piggy "they used to call me piggy". however we also get the feel that Piggy is book smart and knows the knowledge but cant fufil what he knows due to his physic.
      • our first impression of ralph is that he seems unfacsed by the lack of adults, he seems to be a likeable boy excpet for hus rydeness towards not being olite towards piggy and asking his name.
      • ralph and piggy find a chonch on the beach which piggy tells raplh to blow to get other boys attentuon. as they blow the conch other boys come from insjide the forested area of the island, we then get too meet the other character.
      • we meet the choir boys run by Jack when one faints. oyr forst impression of him is that he is very stuck up and looks at himeself to e higher up then everyone else.
      • this is particukary shown when deciding who is chief. jack says "i ought to be chief" imply because he can sing.
      • a plan craashes on a deserted island filled with school boys. no adults survive.
      • once the chief has been chosen Ralph sections of jobs for the others to do, Jack and (his now) 'hunters' were to get food. Whereas Piggy and the rest of the boys (Simon and littl'uns) were to help him with getting of the island
      • simon ralph and jack all go exploring the island, this is the first sign of friendhsip being showed to eachother which changes very quickly.

      • ralph holds an assembly
      • only those holding the conch can speak
      • a small unnamed boy says hes frightnened of a 'snake-thing'
      • rapl reassures the young boy but jack wants to hunt it. this si the first sign of a conflict betweent the two
      • ralph says they need to light a fire to attracked passing ships.
      • jack and the hunters light the fire with piggys glasses, however they let it get out of control.
      • the boy who spoke up at the meeting is missing and we pressume he has died in the fire.
    • chapter 3
      • jack setts of hunting but fails to catch a pig
      • ralph has been hard t work building shelters with simon- start of their friendship
      • ralph and jack cant agree with their prorites (first argument and showing signs of a breakdown in friendship)
      • simon goes off by himself into the jungle and worms his way into he thickest part
    • chapter 4
      • roger bullies three littluns playing
      • jack paints his face to help him kill the pig
      • ralph spots a ship in the distnace, but the hunters of with jack the fire has gone out.
      • the hunters return triumphant with a pig but have to face Raplhs anger
      • in the argument that follows piggys glasses are broken
      • they all cook the pig and the chant "kill the pig. cut her throat. bash her in" ensues.

      • ralph immeditalty calls an assembly in the arkness
      • re establish the rules
      • confront th fear everyone is feeling about the beast.
      • ralph wishes there was a asign from the grownups and piggy wants the grown ups to help them. jack doesnt care along ith his hunuters.
    • chapter six
      • parachuits body lands on the island.
      • sam n eric tending the fire see the body and beilive its the beast, they tell the others and jack goes on an expedition to kill the beast. jack and ralph confront the 'beast' but run away
    • chapter seven
      • ralph is worrrying about his civilisation.
      • ralph, jack and roger go on looking for the beast, the wind makes it rear up and they run away terrified
    • chapter nine
      • simon finds the dead body of the parachutist, he then goes to the other to try tell them.
      • jack orders the boys to do the pig hunting dance all singing " kill the beast! cut his throat! spill his blood!"
      • the boys get so caught up in the chnat that when simon comes into the clearing they belive he is the beast and everyone ends up killing him. the boys never speak of what happened not until the end.
    • chapter eight
      • JACK takes an assembly, the boys still choose Ralph as their chief. Jack goes off saying he wont "play" anymore.
      • others start a fire down by the bathing pool
      • jack and his hunters put the pig on the stick, simon watches it all. he then end up being so dehydrated that he has a possible epileptic fit and imagines the pig talking to him
      • jack and the rest steal fire wood from the others( first point of anarchy on the island)
    • chapter ten
      • everyone aviods simons death
      • jack and his tribe have full control, jack has created a tribe where you can be punished through violence. this made everyone fear him.
      • jack and his hunters steal piggys glasses again this time ot givig them back.
    • chapter eleven
      • ralp piggy and samneric leave their camp and go to jacks. they are met with violence. samneric are tied up.
      • piggy stands to speak still holding the conch , roger unlodges a rock from the ledge and it strikes piggys head killing him instantlyy. jack takes over and ralph is now alone.
    • chapter twelve
      • ralph hides away from jack, samneric warn ralph that roger is especially dangerous.
      • the tribe try to smoke raplh out, this eventually gets worse and worse until the whole island is in flames.
      • raplh is found but he runs to the shore where he bumps into an officer who asks whats going on. ralph bursts into tears having explainned two boys have died.
