- This has previously been state centric, meaning the international system sees the state as the central feature of international politics.
- International law is a form of law that governs states and determines relations amongst them, creating international law.
- States are equal in a state centric system.
- International law is enforced by individual states.
- The rules are set by institutions, such as the UN.
- It's purpose is TO CREATE PEACE AND MAINTAIN SOCIAL/INTERNATIONAL ORDER.

- WTO is a form of international law.
- Creation of NATO and UN, in 1945, increased emphasis of international law.
- This led to an increase in human rights, NGOs and IGOs.
- Realists believe that this form of law WEAKENS STATE SOVEREIGNTY, because humans are self seeking.
- Whereas Liberals believe that it is a positive thing on sovereignty, because they believe in interconnectedness which binds countries.
- Human intervention is debateable on international law because of internal sovereignty.
- If nation states are abusing its people, international law should intervene.
- UN charters state that the state should not intervene in other states and that state sovereignty should be respected.
