  • Glacial Moraines
    • End Moraines
      • deposited at end of glacier (snout)
      • any debris pushed along or trapped in galcier is dropped as ice melts
    • Lateral Moraine
      • deposited at sides of glacier
      • this material has accumulated on top of glacier from weathering of surrounding valleys
    • Medial Moraine
      • deposited in the middle of a glacier
      • or where 2 glaciers have joined
    • Terminal Moraine
      • A terminal moraine is a moraine ridge that marks the maximum limit of a glacier advance
      • They form at the glacier terminus and mirror the shape of the ice margin at the time of deposition.
    • Recessional Moraine
      • mark the retreat of a glacier
      • Each recessional moraine marks the stage when the glacier retreat was stopped long enough for the glacier to deposit its load.
