    • Rivers water on the land
      • The  land forms produced by rivers are mainly the result of 3 processes
        • Erosion
          • the landscape is worn by 4 main types of erosion
            • Abrasion (corrasion}
            • Hydraulic Action
            • Solution (corrosion}
            • Attrition
          • It can be vertical ( wearing away the bed pf the river } lateral (wearing away the banks } or headwards (eating back into the hillside at the source of the river }
        • Transport- Transportation
          • Saltation
          • Traction
          • Solution
          • Suspension
        • There are two other processes
          • weathering-The breaking up of rock by elements of the weather (sunshine , rain, frost} in situ
          • mass movement - This is the downslope movement of loose material due to gravity e.g landslides ,slumping, soil creep
        • Deposition
          • A    river  will begin to drop its load when it runs out of energy needed to carry it. This loss of energy is usually caused by a decrease in volume or velocity as occurs when the gradient decreases or when a river enters the sea
      • The landforms of a river and its valley
        • Waterfalls and rapids
        • Gorges
        • Interlocking spurs
        • Potholes
