    • Reducing Sugars
      • Add 2cm^3 of the food sample in a test tube, add an equal amount of Benedict's reagant and heat for 5 minutes.
        • Negative - Blue
        • Positive - Green/Yellow/Orange/Red
    • Non-Reducing Sugars
      • Heat 2cm^3 of the food sample with a few drops of hydrochloric acid, add an equal volume of Benedict's reagent and heat for 5 minutes.
        • Negative - Blue
        • Positive - Green/Yellow/Orange/Red
    • Starch
      • Add 2cm^3 of the food sample to a test tube, add 5 drops of iodine solution.
        • Negative - Brown/Orange
        • Positive - Blue/Black
    • Lipids - Emulsion
      • Add 2cm^3 of food sample to a test tube, add 5cm^3 of ethanol to the test tube, shake thoroughly, add 5cm^3 of water to the test tube, shake gently
        • Positive - Cloudy/White
        • Negative - Clear
    • Proteins - Biuret test
      • Add 2cm^3 of the food sample to a test tube, add 2cm^3 of sodium hydroxide to the test tube, add a few drops of copper(II) sulphate solution to the test tube
        • Negative - Blue
        • Positive - Purple
