  • Flooding: England and Wales 2007
    • In three months 387mm off rain fell - Double the average
    • Wettest July on record with 129mm of rain
    • Focussed along the Thames and Severn
      • 20th July River Severn had reached record levels
        • Then a powerful storm sent the river into a flood
          • This caused devastation to the towns and villages downstream
      • Dozens of people were killed and costs were £6Million
      • Shrewsbury the flow was 6 times normal
        • But the flood defences from past flooding did their job
      • Worcester river levels rose to 4.5m above normal
        • The village Upton-on-Severn was hit by flooding 7 times
      • Tewkesbury and Gloucester were hit badly as River Avon joins Severn and Waterfront developments respectively
