    • Labelling - Internal
      • Gillborn and Youdell - Teachers had racialised expectations about black pupils and expected to have discipline them more. Black pupils were more likely to be punished for the same behaviour as white students as well as being  underestimated
      • Osler - Black students suffered more from unrecorded exclusions
      • Wright - Asian primary students were stereotyped, assumed they didn't know much English so were spoken to more simplistically. Mispronounced names and treated as problems that the teacher could ignore

        • Overt racists - Black pupils are inferior therefore actively discriminate

        • Conformity - Black pupils accept the values of the school
        • Rebellion - Reject values of the school and create a subculture
        • Retreatism - Retreat from school
        • Innovation - Pro education but anti school
    • Ethnocentric curriculum - National curriculum suits white MC pupils best - languages are mainly European and history focuses on Britain
    • Access to oppurtunities - Ethnic minorities due to stereotypes and finances do not have as good access to oppurtunities so arfe not as likely to suceed
