- Energy sources
- Conduction and convection
- When a particle is heated they gain more energy and start to move
- EXAMPLE
- As you pour boiling water into the mug it dissolves the coco powder
- To make this process quicker you can stir the liquid to make the practices dissolve
- Thermal energy from the drink I seeing transferred to the spoon and wooden rod by insulation/surroundings by convection
- The electrons a piece of metal can leave their atoms and move about in the metal as FREE ELECTRONS
- Conduction is whenthe process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through the material
- Convection is a method of heat transfer that happened in gases and liquids
- This is because the particles are able to move freely and change their positions
- Diagram of a solid(atoms)
- The energy transferred by conduction through a material depends on its thermal conductivity
- The greater the thermal conductivity of a material, the more energy per second it transfers by conduction
- The atoms are packed tightly together and they vibrate continually
- LOOK OVER FINDING THE BEST CONDUCTOR BEFORE TEST
- Infrared Radiation(IR)
- Radiator,light bulb, fire,gas stove, stove,kettle
- Bright colours-HIGH IR
- Dark colours-LOW IR
- Black body IR
- An object that absorbs ALL the radiation that falls on it
- It is the perfect emitter and absorber
- BEFORE TEST READ THROUGH NOTES
