    • The Data Protection Act (DPA) (1998) gives these right to data subjects:
    • 1) The right to view data held about them (but they must give notice and maybe pay a small fee)
    • 2) The right to prevent the processing data that might cause distress or damage to themselves
    • 3) The right to compensation if damage or distress has been caused
    • 4) The right to have any inaccurate data changed or deleted
    • 5) The right to prevent data being used to send junk mail
