- Sweat (evaporates from skin to transfer energy away from body)

- more blood flows closer to the surface of the skin

- Vasoconstricti-on
- blow doesn't flow so close to the surface, resulting in less heat loss
- Shivering to generate heat from respiration
- hairs stand up to create an insulating layer, trapping warm air
