- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- CBT is used when someone's irrational thinking affects their life. The aim is to change the way that the client thinks.
- The therapist guides clients to question and challenge their irrational thoughts. This is so that the patient discriminates between their thoughts and reality
- CBT has been proven to be very effective in curing depression and has a longer lasting recovery than drugs
- Short compared to other therapy like psychoanalysis, takes up to 6 weeks with one session each week.
- Difficult to establish cause and effect.
