    • Clinical signs
      • Diarrhoea
        • White and pasty=e.coli
        • dark and bloody= coccidiosis/ salmonella
      • dehydration- skin tent, weak,cold, sunken
      • acidosis
        • as tissue are poorly perfused from dehydration

      • faecal sampling
        • rota/corona = viral antigen
        • crypto/ cocci = parasitology
        • salmonella/e.coli = culture
      • only really worth doing if will affect clinical treatment
    • Treatment
      • most causes self limiting and just need supportive
      • fluids
        • 1st= Na/K/Glu
        • 2nd= Na/K/Glu/HCO3
        • 3rd= NA/K/Glu/HCO3
        • 4th= Na/K/Glu+++/HCO3/glutamine
      • E.coli = cephalosporins/ amoxicillin
      • salmonella= potentiated sulphonamides
      • coccidiosis= diclazuril/toltrazuril
      • crypto= halofuginone
      • support= NSAIDS/ isolate
