- Enzymes
- enzymes are biological catalysts
- enzymes are proteins
- usually denatured at 45 degrees.
- they're folded into complex shapes which allow smaller molecules to fit into them.
- as the temp increases, so does the rate of reaction.
- very high temperatures can denature enzymes.
- improving experiments
- do the experiment more than once.
- the more data you have, the more accurate your findings are.
- do the experiment exactly the same way. Don't change the variables.
- circulatory system
- the circularly system permits blood to travel round the body.
- transports nutrients, hormones, carbon dioxide and blood cells
- helps protect against diseases and maintains a regular temperature.
- carries oxygen and nutrients into the blood tissue.
- blood pressure
- pressure of circulating blood o the walls of blood vessels.
- usually refers to the pressure in large arteries.
- influenced by cardiac output
- Blood pressure that is low due to a disease state is called hypotension
- red blood cells
- In humans, mature red blood cells are flexible and oval biconcave disks.
- Approximately 2.4 million new erythrocytes are produced per second in human adults
