- Love is the central percept of Christianity, but is underlined by justice & wisdom
- The laws of the bible are the wisdom, but we must apply these laws in a way that is fir (justice), Tillich argues we will do this if our decisions are characterised by love

- Has been heavily criticised by some within the church eg Joseph Ratzinger who claims that Kung is undermining the Magisterium

- Global ethic
- kung wants to work toward global ethics, which identifies minimal consensus concerning binding values, irrevocable, standards & fundamental moral attitudes that world religions & atheist agree on

- Kung argues that euthanasia altho contrary to RC official teaching, it is not contrary to the principles of catholic reasoning & conscience to conclude that keeping someone alive @ all costs is morally right

- pointed out that Christians are not only challenged to be loving & kind to forgive wrongs. Christians therefore bring laws and judgments

- Has been reminding the RC to put love& forgiveness at the heart of their ethics, although he doesn't encourage rejection of the rules. eg he has urged Catholics to embrace & show love to homosexuals in their family
