    • The action involved in doing the crime
    • Translates literally from Latin into the guilty act
    • Omission
      • Failure to act
      • General rule is that an omission doesnt result in actus reus
        • However an omission can be actus reus in a number of situations:
          • Statutory duty - e.g. appeal for bail
          • Contractual duty - R v Pitwood
          • Assumed duty - Stone & Dobinson
          • Duty of law enforcement - R v Dytham
          • Familial relationship - R v Gibbens & Proctor
          • Continuing act - Failure to stop doing something - R v Fagan
          • Creation of danger - R v Miller
