Clues

  • A core of softwood block/strips with a plywood cover. E.g. panel doors. (10)
  • Come from deciduous tree's (broad leaf trees) E.g. ash, beech, mahogany. They come in a wide range of colours. Grains are closer together because they are denser woods. (8)
  • Composed of fine wood dust and resin. Flat-pack furniture finishes equally well on all surfaces. (3)
  • Layers of veneer glued at 90°c to each other (always). Used in construction and making furniture. It has an excellent weight to strength ration. (7)
  • Made of small chips of wood with resin. Used with other surface finishes and is also used in carcus construction. It's poor when it is exposed to moisture. (9)
  • They grow quickly and are a managed suitable resource. They are normally pale in colour, not as durable as hardwoods but strong grained. There is also significant knotting in the wood. (8)
  • Wood fibres have been compressed, little structure integrity. Normally on the back of wardrobes. (9)
