What is the definition of shunting ?

Any movement of a train other than the normal movement on a running line

A person competent to control movements in a depot, yard or siding

Used to protect high risk areas the trap points will derail a train when making an unauthorised right direction movement

Trailing points that will spring back to the original position after a train has passed

Describe Catch Points and how they are used ?

Catch points will derail a train when making an unauthorised WRONG direction movement, EG on a slope - quite often spring points
