Dysuria
∆ Experiences a burning pain when passing urine.

∆ Passing urine more often than usual at night.

∆ May also be sign of other problems - urinary retention and diabetes

Cloudy looking urine
∆ Cloudy to the naked eye

Fever
∆ women under 65 years old a temperature >37.9⁰C may indicate pyelonephritis or sepsis.
∆ Most common symptom of a UTI however the absence of a fever does not exclude a UTI

Urgency
∆ Can be a sign of an overactive bladder.
∆ in women younger than 65 Urgency may indicate a UTI

Flank Pain
∆ Can be a sign of kidney problems.
∆ Flank Pain, fever, Blood in the urine, urgent or frequency urination, could be a sign of kidney problems or kidney stones.

New or worsening delirium
∆ This can indicate UTI when combined with other symptoms.
∆ Consider other causes of delirium. PAIN, OTHER INFECTION, POOR NUTRITION, CONSTIPATION, POOR HYDRATION.

∆ Sexual Activity
∆ Spermicide Use
∆ Post Menopause - Absence of Oestrogen
∆ positive family history of UTIs
∆ history of recurrent UTIs
∆ Presence of a foreign body

Weak Risk Factors
∆ insulin treated diabetes
∆ in older women - recent antibiotics
∆ in older women - poor bladder emptying
∆ increasing age

Key Clinical manifestations
∆ Dysuria - irritation to the bladder trigone or urethra
∆ Frequently, Urgency, incomplete voiding - reduced bladder capacity due to inflammatory Oedema.
∆ Cloudy Urine - pus of blood into urinary tract
