What is a UTI?
It is a urinary tract infection which can infection your urinary tract. This can include you bladder, your urethra or kidneys.

Symptoms of a UTI?
Pain/ burning sensation when peeing. Frequent urinary output. Cloudy pee. Needing to pee more urgently/ more often than usual. Blood in your pee. Lower tummy pain/ back pain.

What tests are complete to determine UTI?
U and E (urinary and electrolytes) test. Analysis of a urine sample. It looks at your red and white blood cells or bacteria.

What would score on a PEWs chart for a UTI?
High temperature/ very low temperature below 36. Can increase heart rate and blood pressure. Can make you shortness of breath (respiration/ saturations).

What intervention/ treatment is used for UTI?
They are treated with antibiotics such as thrimethoprim and auldamethoxazole. Paracetamol can be used for pain. Rest and plenty of fluids to pass urine regularly. There are also creams containing oestrogen.

What can cause a UTI?
Caused usually by bacteria from poo entering the urinary tract which cause an infection. Having sex, pregnancy and conditions such as kidney stones are things that increase the risk of a UTI.
