What is a eukaryotic cell?
It is a cell containing a nucleus and chromosomes (D.N.A)
1 of 16
What is a prokaryotic cell?
It is a cell without a nucleus but they have a single D.N.A chromosome and small rings of D.N.A called plasmids.
2 of 16
Name examples of eukaryotic cells.
Animal cells, plant cells, protazoa (single living cell) and fungi.
3 of 16
Name an example of a prokaryotic cell.
Bacteria.
4 of 16
What are the different parts of a cell called?
Subcellular structures.
5 of 16
What are the most common subcellular structures of an animal cell?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell membrane, Mitochondria and Ribosomes.
6 of 16
What are the most common subcellular structures of a plant cell?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell membrane, Mitochondria, Ribosomes, Cell wall, Permanent Vacuole and Chloroplasts.
7 of 16
What does the nucleus contain?
The genetic material that controls the activities of the cell.
8 of 16
What is the cytoplasm?
A gel-like substance where most of the chemical reactions happen. It contains enzymes that control these chemical reactions.
9 of 16
What does the cell membrane do?
It holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
10 of 16
What happens in the mitochondria?
Most of the reactions for aerobic respiration takes place here. Respiration transfers the energy that the cell needs to work.
11 of 16
What is made in the ribosomes?
Proteins.
12 of 16
What is the cell wall made of and what does it do?
It is made of cellulose and it supports and strengthens the cell.
13 of 16
What does the permanent vacuole contain?
Cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts.
14 of 16
What happens in the chloroplasts?
Photosynthesis occurs, which makes food for the plant. They contain a green substance called chlorophyll which absorbs the light neede for photosynthesis.
15 of 16
What are the subcellular structures of a bateria cell?
Cell membrane, Cell wall, Cytoplasm, Single circular strand of DNA that floats freely in the cytoplasm, one or more small rings of DNA called plasmids.
