What is a stimulus?
You, and all living things need to be able to respond to changes in the environment, these changes are called stimuli.

The central nervous system - the brain and the spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system - nerves taking information from sense organs into the CNS and from the CNS to effectors.

What is are voluntary repsonses?
Responses that are voluntary are consciously controlled by the brain.

Why are reflexes automatic and rapid?
sometimes you need to respond to a potentially dangerous situation quickly, there is no time to think so your brain does not need to be involved.

What is the pathway for a reflex action?
Stimulus - Receptor - Sensory neurone - Relay neurone - Motor neurone - Effector - Repsonse

What is the function of an insulating sheath?
An insulating sheath prevents impulses leaking away.
