2 of 8
What is Semantic Memory?
You know what you learnt but you don't remember the context. General knowledge. Impersonal. Starts as episodic and turns to semantic.
3 of 8
What is Procedural Memory?
Automatic skills such as swimming, reading and walking. Acquired through repetition and practise.
4 of 8
Why are brain scans important?
Types of memory have been found to be localised. Episodic - hippocampus and temporal.
Semantic - temporal.
Procedural - cerebellum and motor cortex.

What was found with Alzheimer's patients?
Hodges and Patterson found that some Alzheimer's patients were able to form semantic memories without episodic memories. They can be formed separately.

What is Priming?
When implicit memories influence responses to stimuli. (If a person is given a list of yellow things, later when they are asked for a fruit, they will likely say banana).

What did they find about priming?
It is controlled in a part of the brain called the perceptual-representation system (PRS). This could be the 4th LTM type. Supported by Spiers et al.
