3 of 10
Sensory neurones...
...carry signals from sense organs to the spinal chord and brain.
4 of 10
Relay neurones...
...carry messages from one part of the CNS to another
5 of 10
Motor neurons...
...carry signals from the CNS to muscles and other effector organs
6 of 10
Cornea - Front part of the tough outer coat, the sclera. It is convex and transparent
Function: The cornea protects front part of eye and bends light to form an image on the retina.
7 of 10
Ciliary muscle - Ring of muscle fibres around the lens
Function: Controls lens thickness and curvature
8 of 10
Suspensory ligaments - Ligament between lens and ciliary muscle
Function: Supports lens and connects it to the ciliary muscle
9 of 10
Optic nerve - Bundle of sensory neurones at back of eye.
Function: Carries signals from the photoreceptors of the retina to the brain.
