Aim
A statement of what the researcher intend to find out in the study.

Debriefing
Debriefing involves a structured or semi-structured verbal conversation between the researcher and the subjects whereby an array of topics are addressed and discussed, and the subjects are given an opportunity to ask questions.

Ethical Issues
Concern questions of right or wrong.

Experiment
A research method where casual conclusions can be drawn as an independent variable has been deliberately manipulated to observe the casual effect on the dependent variable.

Independent Variable
An event that is directly manipulated by an experimenter in order to test its effects on another variable. (Does change)

Dependent Variable
The variable the researcher is interested in. (Does not change)

Extraneous Variables
Nuisance variables that make it more difficult to detect a significant effect as while they are not an alternative IV they might have an effect on the DV.

Hypothesis
A testable statement about the assumed relationship between variables.

Operationalise
Ensuring the variables are in a form that can be easily tested.

Standard Procedures
A set of procedures that are the same for all participants in order to be able to repeat the study.
