When, where and what happened in the September Massacres?
September 1792 Sans Culottes stormed Paris prisons and massacred the prisoners that were mainly nobles and refractory priests.

Why did the September Massacres happen?
The Austrian and Prussian armies were only 20 miles from Paris which caused fear. Sans culottes thought the nobles and refactrory priests in prisons would join the foreign armies and bring back the monarchy.
