What does differentiation mean?
The process by which a cell changes to become specialised for its job.

Are all cells differentiated?
No, some can be undifferentiated as they can develop into different types of cells. These are Stem Cells.

Where are Stem Cells found?
In early human embryos and in bone marrow in adults.

What are Stem cells used for?
To cure certain diseases such as blood diseases like anaemia through bone marrow transplants. The stem cells from the bone marrow replace the faulty old cells with new cells.

Stem cells can be extracted and grown further to treat people with heart disease, diabetes and spinal injuries.

What are the problems with using Stem cells?
Some people are ethically against them due to them being a potential human life, especially women who has experienced miscarriages.

However...
Most of the stem cells used are unwanted ones from fertility clinics which will be discarded anyway so are put to good use.
