How are the neo-marxist views different to marxist views?

A movement addressing the problems of poverty and inequality within Catholic church in the 1960s (south America). Set out to change society through practical action and priests aimed to help the poor e.g. give peasants land.

Hegemony (dominance of RC by beliefs and ideas). The RC are able to use ideas such as religion to rule. The WC can develop an alternative vision of society (counter hegemony)
