being so low down in societies hierarchy and being frustrated with your social position that you commit crime to climb the class system.

white collar crime
where individuals working for a company commit a crime, usually fraud on the company. These crimes usually go unreported through the companies embarrassment and unwanting of a bad reputation

self fulfilling prophecy
being labelled negatively and becoming the label due to being told you are the label so much. for example, being called dumb so often that you believe you are this label and stop tryinging to be cleaver.

4 main classes, formed in the market place

says socitey has 2 main classes. the ruling (bourgeoisie) and the working (proletariates). the rich had ownership and the poor didn't.

caste system
based on the hindu religion. the social position is ascribed at birth and the social system is closed. meaning social mobility is not possible.

apartheid system
based on race and ethnicity. therefore is ascribed at birth with a closed an non mobile social position. Nelson Mandela prevented racial segregation.

based on economic position, therefore it is achieved through money and power and social mobility is possible in this open system
