High temp (pyrexia), discomfort, inflammation of the *****, lethargic, pacing, polyuria and inappetance

Non-neutered *****, more common when older 6-8 weeks after a season

How might a pyometra be treated?
Ovarian hisectomy (neutering), IV fluids, antibiotics - all supportive care for the patient

Hormones - oestrogen and progesterone and ova (eggs) ovum= singular

The ovaries - paired structures located in the abdomen, caudal to the kidneys

The suspensroy (or ovarian) ligament - the broad and round ligament hold in place

Muscular structure - acts as a sphincter to seal the entrance of the uterus - prevents infection

During oestrus (allow entry of sperm) during parturition (allow the foetus to come out)
