Define failure to function adequately
Abnormality occurs when an individual cannot cope with the demands of everyday living. Their behaviour is maladaptive, irrational or dangerous. Causes personal distress/to others.

LIMITATION EVALUATION
-The definition can lead to culturally relative definitions of abnormality
-Because the definition is related to cultural ideas of how life should be lived. Behaviours may be 'normal' to one and 'abnormal' to others
