TCP ?
TCP - manages the separation of files into data packets which are sent across a network. It also resembles data packets

IP - works with the TCP. gives each packet an address so it can reach its destination

HTTP - so web browsers can access websites. allowing a browser to communicate with a web server

HTTPS - a secure version of HTTP (hence the "s" ,a reminder) encrypting and decrypting web pages and data as it is being sent.

POP - emails are downloaded onto your computer and removed from the mail sever, using the protocol a copy is downloaded locally on your computer and is deleted from the sever.

IMAP - very similar to POP. the difference it that the email isn't deleted after downloading, it must be requested to be deleted

SMTP - governs the sending of emails using a network
