The collision of the Indian plate into the Eurasian Plate.The indian plate is converging with eurasian at a rate of 45mm/yr driving the uplift of the Himalayan mountain range.

8,000 dead and 19,000 injured. High loss of people due to it dense population and the number of buildings, which collapsed during the quake and aftershocks. 1.7 million children were made homeless. Many villages suffered many landslides killing 250

Secondary Effects
Nepal will lose $600 million on 2015-2017 climbing season. People had to sleep outside due to after shocks or houses collapsing. Economic losses at 35% of Nepal's GDP. Heavy rain and cold night-time temps put those without shelter at greater risk

Responses
The AsianDevelopment Bank provided $200 million. The UK gave £73 million. Uk also provided 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid and 8 tonnes of equipment. The UK sent around 100 search and rescue responders, medical experts, and disaster and rescue experts.
