Nucleus
largest organelle, contains nucleolus, contains genetic info, surrounded by nuclear envolope, 2 membranes
1 of 6
endoplasmic reticulum
consists of a series of membrane-bound sacs called cisternae, rough ER consists of ribosomes on outside, Rough ER transports proteins, smooth ER makes lipids
2 of 6
Golgi apparatus
receives proteins from ER and modifies them and packages them into vesicles so they can be transported, some go to membrane so they can be secreted
3 of 6
mitochondria
2 membranes, inner membrane called cristae and central part is called matrix. They are site of respiration and producing ATP
4 of 6
Chloroplasts
only found in plant cells, 2 membranes, site of photosynthesis
5 of 6
Lysosomes
single membrane, contain digestive enzymes, they help to break down materials
