What is Linear Motion?
Movement of a body in a straight or curved line, where all parts move the same distance, in the same direction over the same time.

Give a practical example of linear motion
Skeleton - same distance, same direction at the same time.
Water-Skiing - only if the boat was at a constant speed and if it was on a calm body of water.

How does linear motion relate to Newton's first law of motion?
An uninterrupted body will continue to travel in linear motion indefinitely. In a sporting context this is rarely the case due to the forces acting on a body e.g. air resistance.

Total length of a path covered from the start to the finish.

The shortest straight-line route from start to finish positions.

The rate of change in displacement.

Velocity = displacement / time taken

'Define 'acceleration/deceleration'.
Acceleration - the rate of change in velocity.
Deceleration - when the rate of change in velocity is negative or there is a decrease in velocity over time.

Acceleration/Deceleration = (final velocity - initial velocity) / time taken
