Deficit Approach
Women's speech is subordinate to and weaker than men's speech. They use precise colour terms like "mauve", vocabulary associated with domestic chores and tag questions to show uncertainty.

Male speech is controlling and dominating in mixed-sex interactions. They interrupt a lot and are in charge of the conversation.

Men and women belong to sub-cultures with different attitudes, because of cultural differences.
