Belmarsh Case
2004 - Ruled against Blair detaining suspected terrorist indefiently without trial. Upholds rule of law, and innocent unitl proven guilty.

Prisoners voting rights/ Hirst V United Kingdom
4 cases since 2005. All times European court of Justice ruled the UK was in breach of ECHR by not giving voter a vote. The UK government has ignored this.

Vince V Wyatt
2015. Supreme court allowed divorced women to claim compensation 23 years after they split. Her husband was peniless when they split and made money in the 23 years after. This shows a support for a female claimant in divorce settlements.

2004. Footballers ex wife was allowed a percentage of his future earnings after they split as she claimed she saved him from a life of alcohol, and gambaling, which had seen him lose the fortune he made as a proffesional footbaler.

Rape Cases (In General)
1 in 13 lead to conviction. Suggests homogenous white male oxbridge educated bias. Or that these case are very difficult and thefrefore don't lead the convictions, due to lack of evidence.

Factortame Case
1991. UK disputed Spanish boats fishing in UK waters. Uk lost as EU law over rules UK statute law. This undermines parlimantry soverignty.

Human Rights Act
1998. Entrenched ECHR into UK law. Allows Judges to rule things incompatible with the ECHR. Gives judges more power.

RIPA
2000. Law passed to prevent police from searching mobiles without a warrant. A right protected by the supreme court.
