False, some surveys indiciate that more than half of the UK population is in the 'no religion' category, including athiests but also those who doubt existence of God and those who have spiritual beliefs but dont belong to a religion.

It is thought that the way in which the question was asked made the difference. Census asked 'what is your religion' implying you should have one. BSA survey asked 'Do you regard yourself as belonging to any particular religion?'.
