George basically says that he wishes he were alone so he could go to as many whorehouses as he wanted and when he wants. However instead he is stuck with Lennie.

George only has the best intentions for lennie and wants to to have what he wants but has to consider what lennie needs.

George knows that Lennie doesn't mean any harm, but the fact is that he does harm: he kills mice; he terrifies women; and he's going to end up killing someone. We have to say it: maybe George shouldn't be protecting Lennie.
