What is a HAZARD?
A perceived natural event which has the potential to threaten both life and property.

A hazard becoming reality in an event that causes deaths and damamge to goods/property and the environment.

Any long term trend or shift in climate detected by a sustained shift in the average value for any climatic element.

What is GLOBAL WARMING?
A recently measured rise in the average surface temperature of the planet.

What is the TIPPING POINT?
the point at which a system switches from one stage to another.

Why are FLOODS and WINDSTORMS increasing?
increased warming of the earth causes warm air to rise, creating convection cells, which forms hurricanes. Increasing temperatures increase evaporation, which in turn leads to increasing rainfall and therefore greater flooding.
