THEY HAVE A HIGH FREQUENCY, THEY ARE HIGH AND STEEP. THEIR BACKWASH IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THEIR SWASH. THIS MEANS MORE MATERIAL IS REMOVED FROM THE COAST.

WAVES CAUSE MOST EROSION AT FOOT OF CLIFF. THIS FROMS A WAVE-CUT NOTCH, WHICH IS ENLARGED AS AS EROSION CONTINUES. ROCK ABOVE NOTCH BECOMES UNSTABLE AND FALLS. COLLAPSED MATERIAL WASHED AWAY AND NEW WAVE CUT NOTCH FORMS. REPEATED COLLAPSING.
