What is the equation for aerobic respiration?
Glucose + Oxygen → Water + Carbon Dioxide(+ATP)
1 of 5
What is the equation for anaerobic respiration?
Glucose → Lactic Acid
2 of 5
What is more efficient aerobic or anaerobic respiration and why?
Aerobic respiration is more effective because less energy is released as in anaerobic respiration, the glucose molecules aren't fully broken down.
3 of 5
What is an advantage and disadvantage for anaerobic respiration?
Advantage → Muscles can release energy for a short period of time when not enough oxygen is available
Disadvantage → Lactic acid is released which is a mild poison causing painful cramps and not allowing muscles to contract and relax. Also not suitable th

What is an 'oxygen debt'?
After anaerobic respiration, an 'oxygen debt' is created. Breathing in deeply gets oxygen to the muscles to break down the lactic acid to water and carbon dioxide.
