Gaseous Exchange System In Mammals

?
what are the lungs?
exchange organs in humans
1 of 9
what happens when you breathe in?
Air enters trachea.
2 of 9
Where is gas exchanged?
the aveloli
3 of 9
what do the goblet cells do?
secrete mucas which traps microorganims and dust. Stops it from reaching aveloli.
4 of 9
What do the cilia do?
the ciilia beat the mucas upwards away from the aveloli into the throat.
5 of 9
what do elastic fibres do?
Stretch when a person breaths in and and recoil when a person breaths out
6 of 9
what does the smooth muscle do?
allows lumen diameter to be controlled. Releaxes during excersie to make lumen larger. Means less resistance to air flow so air can move out and in of lungs more easily
7 of 9
what does cartiliage in the trachea do?
provides support
8 of 9
why is cartilage in the trachaea not a complete ring?
